Design for People – a call to the FS industry

Tuesday 11 September saw The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) and Teamspirit host a panel debate and immersive experience, where podsters showcased well-designed and intuitive financial service products and services.

Teamspirit and TPAS joined up to issue a call to the whole of the financial services industry, to foster collective responsibility to create more human and engaging connections with those we exist to serve.

In a world where so many remain under-served and unsure, they shone! a spotlight on the very human needs that should drive financial services. Starting with a panel debate that included panellists from Starling Bank, a behavioural scientist, an inventor, and James Maxwell, Executive Creative Director at Teamspirit, the 70 attendees then engaged in the immersive experience. Over an hour they took time to visit the individual podsters, who demonstrated how their products and services are successfully responding to the challenge of combining technology, human understanding and design.

The day underlined the work that still needs to be done across the sector, from the products and services created, to how we engage then communicate, to what form it takes and even to the language we use. While it can feel like a big task, it is heartening to see the enthusiasm everyone has, as well as the willingness to learn from each other. As James Maxwell says, “We believe that it is creative collaboration that transforms.”
