Chime Q Launch
By James Maxwell on Monday, 21 January 2019
It’s 2019.
But did you know that many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people still worry that revealing their sexuality at work will have negative consequences?
In fact 34% of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the UK choose not to disclose their sexuality at work.
And while at Teamspirit we’ve always had an inclusive, open and welcoming environment and team, We know we can always do better.
As communication experts we know our work needs to be representative and inclusive, as do our processes, hiring and culture. We need ALL our people to feel supported. And, we need straight allies to be vocal about their support, and take a stand in the industry and society at large.
That’s why, along with our sister agencies, we’re proud to be a part of launching Chime Q.
Chime Q is our new internal queer network which will help us embolden our LGBTQ+ diversity profile for colleagues, clients and partners.
It will offer everyone across Chime the chance to meet people, learn from experts and colleagues, share personal experiences and, of course, build connections within the diverse LGBTQ+ spectrum.
We’re going to be working work with leading organisations like Stonewall, NABS, LBWomen, UK Black Pride, InterComms, PrideAM and Out for Sport to run events that cover discussions on a wide range of topics, such as the power of diversity, the benefits of having a mentor, and importance of reliance and working on your mental health.
Our initial launch event will see us hearing from the impressive Lord Seb Coe, Jan Gooding and Phyll Opoku-Gyimah.
