Monzo dips its toe into current accounts

By Teamspirit on Wednesday 19 July 2017

Monzo has launched its long-awaited current account. Right now, the release is limited to just 92 lucky Monzo users, but the fintech plans to roll out up to 20,000 accounts in the next three months.

At the moment, the account is only available to iOS users and comes with limited functionality compared to what Monzo users are used to. There are no P2P payments, no 9am-6pm customer support and users will have to access their current account via a separate app to their pre-existing pre-paid Monzo app.

But, typical current account services are all present, including faster payments, standing orders and direct debits.

And, as is Monzo’s way, they’ve already laid out their roadmap for integrating all the features that made Monzo so appealing into their next generation of products.
